Am I the only one who feels annoyed and even a bit offended when I show someone one of my drawings/ doodles and the person goes something like: “I will never be as good as you!” or “Maybe it’s just a crappy doodle for you, but I could never pull off somthing like this!”
News Flash: Artists tend to expect a lot more from their craft than someone who is not an artist. It’s called self criticism and it’s important in order to become better.
When I say, that one of my drawings is bad, I do not want you to tell me otherwise. I am not the kind of person who goes fishing for compliments. I say it’s bad because I know that I can do better.
So please stop telling me that you are a terrible artist just because I have about ten more years of practice than you do.
